Wilson L. Buchert Jr., 79, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away Thursday, July 31st at his residence.
He was the widower of Lillian M. (Schlott) Buchert, who passed away October 6, 2010. They had shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Wilson L. Buchert Sr. and Mary (Dries) Buchert.
Wilson was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Pottstown for 27 years, retiring in 1980. He subsequently worked for Giorgio Foods in Blandon for many years.
He was involved in the Explorer Post, was a volunteer firefighter, trustee, and lifetime member of the Temple Fire Company, and a member of the Central Fire Company.
He was an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State football, and Nascar, especially Jeff Gordon.
Wilson also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include children: Terry L., wife of Carl Seltzer of Muhlenberg Twp.; and Sandy L., wife of Mark Wagner of Bern Twp.
He was predeceased by a son, Wilson L. Buchert 3rd, who passed away in February of 2006.
There are five grandchildren: Jennifer Mills; Drew Seltzer; Rikki Schlappich; Troy Seltzer, husband of Melissa; and Brianna Buchert; and one great-grandson.
Also surviving are siblings: Margaret Wentzel of Pottstown and Kathryn Stamm of Lenhartsville.
He was predeceased by a brother, Curtis Buchert.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6th at 1 p.m. at the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA with Ordained Minister Sylvia Seward officiating.
Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp.
There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6 until 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wilson's memory may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Assoc., Crozer Chester Medical Center, Presidents Drive, Upland, PA 19013
