William E. Minns, 89, of Muhlenberg, passed away on October 4, 2021 at the Reading Hospital with his loving wife by his side.
Born in DuBois, PA on May 30, 1932, he was a son to the late William and Freda (Yutt) Minns. William was the husband of Ida E. (Ranieri) Minns with whom he shared 37 years of marriage at her time of passing in 1988. In 2007, William was remarried to Marie A. (Torcivia) Minns with whom he shared 13 and a half years of marriage.
William was a 1950 graduate of DuBois High School.
William was a proud United State Army Veteran having served for 30 years. He enlisted in 1949 and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 1979. While enlisted, he was stationed in Paris, France; Pentagon, Vietnam, Vicenza, Italy; Ankara, Turkey; Fairbanks, Alaska and the New Cumberland Army Depot. William earned a Bronze Star for his heroic service during the Vietnam War. He was a career Military Officer and was a dedicated and decorated patriot to his country.
After William was retired from the military, he worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for about 8 years. William loved Florida and for the last 38 years he split his time between Port Orange Florida, where he is a resident, and Reading, PA.
In addition to his wife Marie, William is survived by his children, Cindy M. Rex, wife of Dennis, Mark W. Minns, husband of Laurel, Sherry A. Hracho, wife of Michael, Susan C. Shoop, wife of Brad and step-sons, Carl, Nicholas, Daniel, Larry and Anthony. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Jason Rex, Melissa Wertz, Mark Minns Jr., Shelbe Oswalt, Matthew Hracho, Kelsey Kline, Kayla Hracho, Kyle Shoop, Brandon Shoop and 9 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 where friends and family may call from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. A Mass will be held immediately following the viewing at 11:00 am at Holy Guardian Angels, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605, with Father Michael Camilli officiating.
A burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA
