William Chris Koenig, a beloved family man and respected member of his community, passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 62, in Bernville, Pennsylvania. Born on October 4, 1962, in West Islip, New York, Chris lived a life dedicated to his family and friends.
A proud graduate of East Islip High School, Chris embarked on a career as a welder, dedicating over 40 years to this craft. Most notably, he spent a significant portion of his career with Reading Truck Body in Reading before concluding his professional journey at Morgan's Welding Inc. in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, due to a disability, Chris was forced into retirement.
Chris was known by friends and family as a loving and caring individual. His greatest pride stemmed from his two daughters, Jacklyn R., wife of Anthony “Tony” L. Cabrera, and Shyanne M. Koenig, fiancée of Rance "RJ" M. Strunk, III. Their achievements brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Moreover, Chris was a doting “Pop” to his granddaughters, Nelsa M. Colon (Kiddo) and Keiara Y. Cabrera (Peanut), with whom he shared countless treasured memories.
Family gatherings were central to Chris's life, particularly the cherished Sunday “Family Fun Day” filled with laughter and love, where his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren would come together. Chris derived great pleasure from these moments, often accompanied by his fondness for country music and classic rock. He had a unique knack for finding himself in humorous and sometimes precarious situations, earning the affectionate nickname of "an accident waiting to happen" from his family.
In addition to his daughters and granddaughter's Chris's was survived by his two brothers Bernard “Bernie” and Shawn and three sisters Linda, Tina, and Christine. He is also survived by his nieces Sammi, Tabbi, and Heather, as well as his nephew Colton, all of whom were dear to him.
Chris is mourned by his beloved wife Jolynne (nee Prizer) Koenig, to whom he was devoted for 28 wonderful years. He was the cherished son of his mother Sharon (nee Alex) Koenig and his father William Koenig and wife Ester.
The impact of Chris Koenig's life will be felt by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family that will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.
Services for Chris will be held at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in William "Chris" Koenig's name may be made to the Berks County Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
