William F Hunter

November 6, 1938 — February 5, 2025

William F Hunter (Bill), 86 years old passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was the husband and lifelong partner of Bert (Bennett) Hunter for 66 years.

Bill was born in Scranton, PA, and grew up as the youngest of seven siblings in Taylor, PA. During his high school and college years he worked with his father and older brothers as a truck driver at the family strip mining business. After graduating from Taylor High School, Bill attended Anderson University in Anderson Indiana. After studying for the ministry Bill changed his path and got his degree from Anderson in education and public school administration. Bill later received his Master's degree from Temple University. While attending Anderson University Bill met Bert Bennett who would become his wife. Together they raised a family in Robesonia, PA. 

Bill served the Tulpehocken School District for 35 years first as a teacher and then the Principal of the Penn Bernville Elementary and Middle School. Bill and Bert were active members and leaders of the Church of God in Reading, PA. Bill served the church as a teacher, board member, and lay leader.

Bill enjoyed traveling in the family motorhome to Florida, the Smokey Mountains, Vermont, and a family favorite campground in Chenango Valley, NY. Bill also enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwings, local sprint car racing, family holidays and vacations, and tinkering on cars and home projects.

He is survived by his wife Bert, children Jan Ritchie, spouse Greg, Bill Hunter, Jr., spouse Anne, Bob Hunter spouse Amy; Grandchildren, Daniel Hunter, Kaila Mills, spouse Patrick, Maggie Hunter, Emily von Christierson, spouse Trevor, and great-granddaughter Harper.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
