Wert R. Henne, 87, of Fleetwood, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Kindred Wyomissing Health and Rehab.
He was the widower of Marie I. (Bailey) Henne, who passed away July 15, 1992.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Daniel and Clara Henne.
Wert served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked as a welder for the former Parish Division of Dana Corp., and subsequently as a forklift operator for Kraft Food.
He had previously been a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Temple.
Along with his wife Marie, Wert gave love and a home to hundreds of foster children over the years.
Survivors include his sons: Nelson T. Henne, husband of Debbie, of Reading and Joe Henne, husband of Jackie, of Ocala, FL; and twin daughters: Sandra M., wife of Rodney Wentzel, of Temple and Susan M., wife of Donald Noll, of Temple.
There are six grandchildren: Michael, Lorraine, Michele, Marsha, James, and Heather; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 20th at 11 a.m. at the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA, with Rev. Dr. Harry L. Serio officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
