Vernon L. Kohl

June 9, 1930 — August 9, 2013

Vernon L. Kohl, 83 of Cumru Township died Friday morning in the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Helen D. (Becker) Kohl. They had shared sixty-one years of marriage.

Vernon was born in Cumru Township on June 9, 1930. He was the son of the late William H. and Bertha M. (Ruffner) Kohl

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son; V. Lee Kohl, Jr. of Kenhorst.

Also, surviving are three sisters; Betty G. Bender of Alleghenyville, Anna E. Showalter of Mohnton, and Shirley K. Bortz of Park Manor.

Vernon was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters; William H. Kohl, Jr, Milton D. Kohl, Mildred K. Brendle, and Dorothy Herr Hassler.

Vernon had attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Pricetown.

He was a member of the Pennwyn Motor Association, Mohnton Fish and Game Association, and the Cedardale Fish Club

Vernon graduated from the former Mohnton High School in the Class of 1948

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Vernon retired as the Street and Road Supervisor of the Borough of Mohnton.
Prior to that he was employed by Naugle's Plumbing & Heating Company of Shillington, and by the former William H. Kohl Cement Contractors of Cumru Township.

As hobbies he enjoyed hunting in Potter County, fishing in Delaware, and playing cards. He, also, was a huge Yankee baseball and Oakland Raider football fan.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. from the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. Temple with Reverend James A. Killian officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
