Thomas Lee Miller, Sr. 88 of Shoemakersville died at his daughter's residence in Bernville on May 26, 2016.
Born August 12, 1927, Thomas is predeceased by his parents S. Fred Miller and Pauline (Romig) Miller, and predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years Marna May (Seidel) Miller and brothers David W. and Richard F. Miller. Tom lost his son Thomas L. Miller, Jr in 2003 and companion Miriam Auman in 2010.
Tommy attended Reading schools and graduated from the Wyomissing Polytech Institute as an Industrial Engineer before becoming the Plant Superintendent of Central Door & Plywood, where he worked for 46 years.
Tom was a former Reading School Board member; a Charter Member of the Keystone Setter and Pointer Club; Life Member of the Reading Elks Club; member of Masonic Lodge 549 F&AM; former President of the Leesport Gun Club; and former Director of the Perry Gun Club.
Tom was an avid hunter, a faithful member of St. John's Gernant's Church in Leesport, Young Republicans, Green Valley Country Club, Northmont Social Club, and the Leesport, Temple, Lincoln, and Riverside Fire Companies.
Thomas is survived by his beloved daughter Sandie, son-in-law Richard Flammer, and daughter-in-law Jane Strand; granddaughter Marcella McLaughlin and grandsons Cory McLaughlin, Michael Miller, Thomas Miller III, and James Miller; great grandchildren Allyson McLaughlin, Amanda McLaughlin, and Taylor Miller. Additional family includes granddaughters Laura Ringler, Carly Shilling, Kristen Wolf, and Adrian Flammer; grandchildren Connor, Samantha, Vincent, Christian, Cooper, Emily, Jessica, Adrian, Brady, Zoe; and great-great grandson Colton.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at Noon in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple with Rev. Fran Merkel officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John's Gernant's Church Cemetery in Leesport.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning in the funeral home from 10 am until 11:45 am.
Reading Lodge No. 549 F&AM, of West Reading, will hold services at 11:45 am with the funeral service to follow.
