Theodore W. Kurtyka, 80, a life time residence of Muhlenberg township died Tuesday evening at the Rittenhous Living Center.
He was the husband of Barbara A. (Forlini) Kurtyka. They shared a loving marriage of fifty-eight years.
He was born in West Reading on November 30, 1935. He was the son of the late John F. and Julia (Sowa) Kurtyka.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters; Elise A. wife of Vincent J. Valeriano of Kannapolis, NC; and Lynda A. wife of Steven C. Drasher of Spring Township. A son, John T. Kurtyka companion of Christine Buesing of Ontelaunee Township. A daughter Leanne died November 1987.
He was blessed with six grandchildren; Vanessa Capece, Kristi Rose, Andrew Kurtyka, Leah Kurtyka, Christopher Drasher, and Matthew Drasher. He, also, had four great grandchildren.
He had a sister Jean widow of Joseph Helfrich of Kingsport, TN. Two deceased sisters; Helen wife of Edward Zabinski, and Ann wife of Milton Blanski.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church of Hyde Park.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Oley Valley High School and attended Albright College for two years. Ted was an avid gardener and always had a large vegetable garden. He and his beloved wife often traveled and visited the casinos frequently.
He retired in 1995 with twenty-nine years of service last working as a production manager by the former NGK Metals of Muhlenberg Township, and also was owner of Ted's Produce in the Fairgrounds Farmers Market.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. Temple.
