Sylvia G. "Val" Gilmore

Sylvia "Val" G. Gilmore, 81, of Temple, passed away Monday, February 15th in Manor Care in Laureldale.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Valeriano and Catherine J. (Buda) Valeriano Miller.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.

She attended Holy Guardian Angels School, she then graduated from Muhlenberg High School.

She was a professional entertainer, her stage name was Val Venise.

She began her career with Marie Shaw School Of Dance and entertained with "The Holiday Girls".

She danced on tour in the northeast in well noted night clubs, USO, The Steel Pier, and others.

She continued her dancing career in New York City studying, singing, dancing, and acting. She performed in well known clubs, namely, Chateau Madrid in NYC, Latin Casino in N.J., The Old Romanian Club in NYC, and Blue Angel Club in NYC.

She received acting credits off Broadway appearing in "A Taste Of Honey" and Shakespeare's "The 12th Night".

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Rudolph Valeriano, Anthony Paul Valeriano, and Venice L. Stovall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 22nd at 10 am in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Hyde Park, Reading, PA, 19605 with Rev. Msgr. Dennis T. Hartgen celebrant.

A viewing will be held on Monday from 9 until 10 am in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
