Steven L. Barrell

October 18, 1952 — March 14, 2015

Steven L. Barrell, age 62, passed away March 14, 2015 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George and Betty (Bissey) Barrell. In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in death by brothers, George and David Barrell, and an aunt, Catherine Endy.

He is survived by former wife, Debra Barrell; daughters, Christie Himmelreich and significant other, Chris Brown, Mary Kunkle and husband, Cory, Amanda Barrell and husband, Scott Heffner, and Tricia Barrell and significant other, Stephen Kobryn; grandchildren, Abigail, Kayla, Dominic, Sophia, Riley, Savannah, Everett, and Aaron; sisters, Elaine Miller and husband, Randall (deceased) and Beth Breisch and husband, Kevin; brother, Scott Barrell and wife, Toni; sister-in-laws, Deborah and Pam Barrell; his uncle George and aunt Willy and family; and several nieces and nephews.

Upon graduation from high school, Steven enlisted with the Marine Corps and served for 4 years, earning several awards. After exiting from the service, he began work with Conrail, which later became Norfolk Southern, working as a supervisor for most of his career spanning between 1974 and 2012.

Stevie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his home in Delaware, where he enjoyed clamming and fishing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the yearly family ski trip and hunting with his brother, uncle, and friends. Stevie was a dedicated and supportive father and grandfather. He will be so dearly missed by his family whom he loved very much.

A viewing will be held in Milkins Giles Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple on Wednesday, March 18th, from 6 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19th from the funeral home starting at 10 am. Interment will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tuckerton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
