Sonja A. Kraatz

Sonja A. Kraatz, 69, of Bernville, passed away Tuesday April 14th with her loving family by her side, in her residence.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. Kraatz and Elsie E. (Lesher) Kraatz.

Sonja graduated from Penn Bernville High School in 1964. She was a Nursing Administrative Secretary for forty one years for the Berks County Home, Berks Heim, retiring October 2011.

Sonja was a devoted member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville.

Sonja enjoyed gardening, solving puzzles, cross stitching, and attending the Bernville Young at Hearts. She enjoyed walking throughout Bernville with "Puppy"

Sonja loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews.

Surviving is a twin sister, Sylvia R. (Kraatz) Snyder, widow of Clark L. "Skip" Snyder of Bernville. Also, nieces and nephew, Rosann K., wife of Michael Becker and Darryl and Denise Kraatz.
There are great nieces and great nephews, Jeffrey and Kaytlin Becker and Everett and Gabrielle Kraatz. There is a great great niece, Morgan Becker.

Sonja is predeceased by a brother, Barry Kraatz who passed away in 2000 and survived by Barry's wife Ruthanne Kraatz.


Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 11 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Rev. William Miller officiating. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Bernville. A viewing will take place on Saturday morning from 9 am until time of service in the funeral home.
