Simonina (Cirulli) Donofrio

Simonina (Cirulli) Donofrio, 94, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Born on April 1, 1927, in Schiavi di Abruzzo, Italy, she was a daughter to the late Bernado and Concetta (Falasca) Cirulli. Simonina was the wife of the late Edward Donofrio who passed away December 17, 2002.

Simonina, originally from Schiavi di Abruzzo, Italy, arrived in the United States via a ship named Independence with members of her family in 1953 at the age of 26.  She worked many years in the textile industry.  She had been employed by the Berkshire Knitting Mills where she worked for many years. Simonina loved animals, gardening and cooking all different kinds of Italian food for her family. She also enjoyed shopping, especially at Sam's Club and Walmart. Above all, Simonina was a doting grandmother and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Simonina is survived by her children, JoAnn (Donofrio) Hale, wife of Tom Hale, and DiAnn (Donofrio) Smoot, wife of Charles Thomas Smoot. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Simonina Hale, Tommy Hale, Jennifer Loaiza, Chelsea Leary, Zachary Smoot; Step grandchildren Kylie Barford and Dustin Smoot; Great Grandson, Landon Groff; Step great grandchildren, Rowan and Finley Barford and one sister, Gina Cirulli.  She is predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters, Angelina (Cirulli) Fantilli, Darina Cirulli, Maria Cirulli, Giuseppe Cirulli, and Silvino Cirulli.

A Viewing will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple. There will be a Service of Christian Burial held at 11:00 am in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Family requests that mask be worn during services.

Burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery.
