Shirley R. Davis

Shirley R. Davis, 81, of Bernville, passed away on July 11, 2021 at Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Born on November 28, 1939 she was a daughter to the late William and Pauline (Rothermel) Raezer. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Davis with whom she shared 57 years of marriage at the time of his passing on May 18, 2018. Most recently, Shirley was employed at Heidelberg Country Club and was known as the “10th Hole Girl”.

Shirley was an active member of Christ Little Tulpehocken Church in Bernville. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Every year for each holiday she would write short stories for her grandchildren about the upcoming holiday. During Halloween she would write short little spooky stories and turn the lights down and read it to her grandchildren; she loved to write. Shirley also loved playing cards with her family, although most of the time she could be caught cheating. All year round you could find Shirley making cut-out cookies. If you were a neighbor or helped Shirley, you could be sure that you were going to get a cookie delivery. She enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Phillies fan and knew each and every player.

Shirley is survived by her children, Susan Barnett, wife of James of Temple, Michael Davis, husband of Michele (Wagner), of Robesonia and Mindy Rohrer, wife of John, of Myerstown. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Patrick, Alex, Nicole, Tyler, Chase and Emily, and one great granddaughter, Madison; Siblings, Pat Williams, Janice Koch, Mary Margharito, wife of Carlos, Richard Raezer, husband of Nancy and June Ulrich, wife of Leroy.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Schwenk, wife of the late Thomas Schwenk, who passed away December 20, 2017 and siblings, Virginia Romig, William Raezer, Barbara Blankenbiller and Sandra Mervine.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville, PA 19506. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, 40 Church Road, Bernville, PA 19506 with a viewing held one hour prior.

Burial will take place immediately following the funeral services in Christ Little Tulpehocken Church Cemetery.
