Ruth M. Adam, 100, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Keystone Villa at Fleetwood, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 21, 1924, in Calcium, at the family farm near Lake Ontelaunee, Ruth was a radiant soul whose presence brought warmth and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A proud graduate of Leesport High School in 1942, Ruth devoted much of her life to her career as a sewing machine operator at Temple Apparel. Beyond her professional endeavors, Ruth’s heart thrived in the communities she fervently engaged with. As a long-standing member of Maidencreek Church, Ruth found joy in her faith, connecting deeply with those around her. She was also a Charter Member of the Blandon Lioness Club, Member of the Eastern Stars and the Blandon Senior Citizens.
Ruth was not only committed to her work and community but also her hobbies and interests. Her love for quilting was a testament to her creativity, as was her passion for reading. Traveling also brought her immense joy. Most importantly, Ruth treasured the moments spent with her family, a cornerstone of her life's happiness.
She leaves behind a loving legacy, including her daughters, Linda L. Marquardt, wife of Clete, of Wyomissing, and Deborah A. Didyoung, wife of Tony, of Reading. Ruth was the proud grandmother of Jody (Didyoung) Graham, wife of John, Ashleigh (Marquardt) Turner, wife of Ben, and Adam Marquardt, husband of Whitney. Her heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchildren, Ian and Jillian Graham, Colton, Avery, and Addison Marquardt, and Charlie and Emily Turner.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Frederick "Fritz" Adam; Her parents, Llewellyn and Maud (Seidel) Schaeffer, and her siblings, Harry L. Schaeffer, Elsie E. Adam, and an infant sister, Anna Cathrine Schaeffer.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and residents at Keystone Villa at Fleetwood for the incredible kindness and unwavering support they have shown Ruth over the years. Your compassion, patience, and genuine care have made all the difference in her life, and for that, we are truly grateful.
