Russell Charles “Cap” Weidman, 88, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Tuesday, August 23rd in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Russell was married for forty-eight loving years to Dawn Phoebe (Stoudt) Weidman.
Born in Bernville, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Weidman and Dora Mae (Long) Weidman.
Russell served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He was formerly employed for Stanley Klopp as a tractor and farm equipment mechanic for twenty years, Lift Inc. as a sales representative for ten years, and Coca-Cola as a mechanic and in maintenance for twenty years retiring July 1998.
He was a member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville.
Russell was a member of the 2 Cylinder Tractor Club, the Shartlesville Fire Co., and Bernville Young at Heart.
He was a collector of John Deere antique tractors and also collected farm toys.
Surviving along with his wife Dawn is a step son, Barry W. Moyer and wife Joan of Bernville.
Two step grandchildren, Angela Ann Yost and husband Steven and Vicki Lynn Winnick and husband Michael.
There are five step great grandchildren, Montgomery and Jaclyn Yost and Alexander, Elizabeth, and Catherine Winnick.
He is predeceased by a brother, Leslie Weidman.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, September 1st at 10:30 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville with Reverend Stephen Hollinger officiating.
Family and friends may attend a visitation with the family from 9:00 am until 10:30 am Thursday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Bernville.
