Ronald M. K. "Ron" Schoener, 79, of Sinking Spring, passed away
Sunday, January 12th in the Reading Hospital following a stay
of eight days.
He was the husband of Eleanor J. (Eisenhart) Schoener. Ron and Eleanor would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 6th.
Born at home in Bernville, he was the son of the late Douglas F. and Kathryn (Kline) Schoener.
He was a graduate of Penn Bernville High School Class of 1952 and a graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute, Penn State University. He attended the Wharton School of Business of the University of PA.
He started his career as an apprentice at Textile Machine Works earning his Tool Makers Certification. Having completed ten years there, he joined J. T. Reddy Inc. as a Sales Engineer.
He then joined Engis Corp. of Chicago as their East Coast Manager and retired after thirty years of service.
He then started R & R Reclamation Inc. of Reading where he was still active as President.
Ron was a member of the Bernville Lions Club, serving a term as President, Rotary International, and the Penn Bernville Alumni Assoc. He also served several terms as President of the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers serving as one of its first Presidents.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959 stationed in South Carolina, Missouri, and finally Germany.
Ron was a member of St. John (Hains) UCC for the past ten years. Prior, to that he was baptized , confirmed,, and a member of St. Thomas UCC in Bernville where he served as a deacon and elder for many years.
Ron and his wife Eleanor have traveled extensively in Europe starting in 2000. They have taken one to two trips every year, mostly river cruises. Their last trip together was to Italy in August.
The two most important things in Ron's life were first his family,
second was his work.
Surviving along with his wife, Eleanor are three children, Gretchen D. Schoener of Temple, Eric R. Schoener, husband of Cathy of Fogelsville, and Jon M. Schoener, husband of Beth of Wernersville.
There are four grandchildren, Alex, Zach, Kitt, and Will Schoener.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 18th at 11 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St, Bernville with Rev. Dr. Jon A. Fogle officiating. Interment will follow on Haags Cemetery in Bernville. A viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9 am until time of service in the funeral home.
