Robert Anthony Peters, age 90 years, of Wyomissing, died peacefully while surrounded by his family in the Reading Hospital on Tuesday, December 08. Born in Reading in August 10, 1925, he was the son of Edna and Anthony Peters. He was married to Bernice F. Peters until her passing in 1983.
He was a 1943 Reading High School graduate.
Robert was the owner of Knutson and Peters Insurance Agency before selling the business and taking a position as an auditor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania until his retirement.
He was the oldest living past master of Lodge #62 F&AM and a 33rd degree Mason.
Robert became a member of Lodge No. 62 Free and Accepted Masons in 1954. He served the Lodge as a Worshipful Master in 1962.
He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII and earned multiple medals for combat service.
Robert enjoyed playing poker with family and friends and was frequently a winner in the New Jersey casinos at the Blackjack table.
He is survived by his son Todd R. Peters and wife Catherine of Morgantown, PA, daughter Lynn R. (Peters) Bucher, wife of Michael Bucher, Reading, PA, son Bryan A. Peters and wife JoAnn of Fleetwood, PA, and son Alan D. Peters of Wyomissing, PA. There are also 5 grandchildren, Stefan Peters, Jimmy Bucher, Danielle Bucher, Eric Peters, Alicia Peters and predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachel Bucher.
Masonic services by Lodge # 62 F&AM on Saturday, December 12th at 10 am with a funeral service to immediately follow in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.
A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until time of service in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
