Richard John Maus, 58, passed unexpectedly on April 29th in Bernville, PA. Rich was born in U. S. Army Hospital in Munich, Germany then lived in the Bernville area most of his life. Rich was the son of the late Carl J. Maus and is survived by his mother, Gertrud (Konig) Maus of Virginia.
Rich, a devoted family man, enjoyed backyard get-togethers with family and friends, playing cards, attending sporting events to support his grandchildren, and trips to the casino. He also enjoyed watching and talking about sports with his sons, his favorite team being the Phillies, especially when they had a good season. Rich worked as a truck driver for many years with Lentz Milling, Landis C. Deck & Sons, and Brenntag. Rich was happiest when he was with his family. He had an amazing sense of sarcastic humor and loved making people laugh. He was always there to lend a hand. He was loved by many, including his co-workers and his friends in the Bernville area.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife of thirty seven years, Debra J. (Deck) Maus, of Bernville. Rich and Debra were married September 24, 1978 at Debra's parents home, which was her childhood home, in Bernville.
Additional survivors include a son, Brad R., husband of Joele, of Sinking Spring; son, Michael J., of Bernville; daughter, Jamie L., fiance of Michael Proitte, of Bernville; six grandchildren, Alexis, Jacinda, Trenton, Drake, Madalyn, and Maxon; brother, Kenneth, husband of Cheryl, of Reading; sister, Patricia Clements, wife of Chris, of Haymarket, Virginia; sister, Andrea Deck, wife of Kenneth, of Bernville; brother, Gregg Maus, husband of Chrissy, of Mohnton; step-brother, Gary Feltenberger, of Reading; step-sister, Cleann Pauley, wife of Kerry, of Wernersville.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow. Pastor Jacob C. Meyer, of Bethel, and Elder Alan Mansager, of Holts Summit, MO, will assist with the service and be available for emotional support.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
