Richard 'Dick' F. Grim, 87, lifelong resident of the Reading area, passed away Saturday evening, January 13, 2018 in ManorCare Health Services Laureldale where he had resided for the past year. Dick was the loving husband of the late Rachael (Wiltrout) Grim. Born in a farmhouse in Macungie, Pa, Dick was a son of the late Irvin F. and Margaret L. (Brobst) Grim.
Dick was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1948. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, who courageously served his country in the Korean War. Dick was a hard-worker, he held various jobs in the area and worked at Baldwin Brass for many years, retiring in 1995. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and was often found playing 18-holes at the Reading Country Club. Dick was very outgoing, active and athletic, he liked bowling, playing darts, and all sports. He was a volunteer and member of the Hampton Fire Company and walked the parades with them each year. Dick also served as former Treasurer of the Young Men's Democratic Club of Reading.
Dick is survived by his sister, Diane (Grim) Long of Mt. Penn, eleven nieces, six nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Dick is predeceased by his brothers, Clifford and Kermit Grim.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, Pa., officiated by Reverend Bradley Haws, the Spiritual Coordinator of Heartland Hospice.
The viewing will be just prior to the service, from 9 to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, Pa., including the presentation of Military Honors by the Topton American Legion, Post 217 Honor Guard.
