Raymond W. Shuman, 92, of Blandon, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at his home.
Born in Blandon, he was the son of the late Herbert J. Shuman, Sr. and Carrie A. (Shade) Shuman.
Raymond was employed for many years at General Battery in the Burning Department, and then went on to work at Yuasa Battery as a supervisor, and finally with the Fleetwood School District as a custodian. Outside of his employed life, he volunteered countless hours with the Blandon Ambulance Association as an ambulance driver and attendant.
Raymond was a member of Salem Belleman's Church, Mohrsville, and was a member the Berks County Fireman's Association, the Kutztown Fire Company, Temple Fire Company, and was very active with the Blandon Fire Company and Relief Association, and the Blandon Ambulance Association, of which he was a founding member.
Surviving are his brothers, Herbert J. Shuman, Jr. and Robert L. Shuman; son-in-law, Phil Reppert; grandson, Alan R. Reppert and wife Merleen; great-grandson, Brenden Reppert; brother-in-law, Ray "Dick" Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of almost 55 years, Betty I. (Henry) Shuman in 2000, daughter, Debra L. Reppert; brothers, Lee, Ralph, Paul, Oliver, and Carroll Shuman; and sisters, Ruth Brown, Tillie Manmiller, and Mary Rothermel.
A funeral service will be held Friday July 3rd at 11 am from the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, with the Rev. Sara Hertzog officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 am until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
