Raymond K. ""Sonny"" Kohl
December 29, 1931 — June 30, 2015
Raymond K. "Sonny" Kohl, 83, formerly of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away June 30th in St. Joseph Medical Center where he was a patient since June 27th.
He was married to the late Margaret C. (Bausman) Kohl who passed away November 7, 2009.
He was the son of the late Raymond and Mabel Kohl.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He then was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Pottstown and a bus driver for the Reading School District, (BCIU).
He enjoyed attending the Reading WW II Air Show and enjoyed watching military programs on the History Channel.
He was a loving and caring Pop -Pop to his grandchildren. He also took care of his wife Margaret for many years, until her death, which we were so thankful for.
Surviving is one son, Keith Kohl of Florida and a daughter, Kathy Steiner of New York. There are three step children, John P. Tabakelis, Jr., husband of Margaret Tabakelis of Coatesville, Rita M. Lebo, wife of Ralph W. Lebo, Jr. of Muhlenberg Twp., and George P. Tabakelis, husband of Christine Tabakelis of Muhlenberg Twp.
There are thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
There is a beloved niece, Sharon Bickel.
He is survived by a sister, Laura Schaeffer and predeceased by sisters, Verna Gagliardo and Lucille Clark.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday July 7th at 11 am in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:30 am until time of service in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Laureldale, PA 19605.
