Ray L. Berger, 88, ,of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., passed away Sunday, September 4th in the Reading Hospital.
Ray was married to the late Marian E. (Luckenbill) Berger who passed away August 4, 2012. Ray and Marian were married for sixty two years.
Born in Shartlesville, he was the son of the late Frank W. Berger and Emma E. (Kerschner) Berger.
He was a farmer for forty years, last operating a farm in Fredericksburg.
He was a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ in Strausstown.
He was a long time member and former master of Bernville Grange # 1887 in Bernville, a member of the PA Farmer's Assoc., enjoyed playing the harmonica, and attending hoe downs.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Daniel F. Berger and wife Shirley I. Berger of Bernville, Clifford R. Berger and wife Fay M. Berger of Fredericksburg, Patricia A., widow of Albert E. Timmins of Bethel, and Debra E. wife of Randy D. Weidman of Bernville.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Lucille Berger who passed away December, 1974.
He is also predeceased by his siblings, Solomen, William, Walter, and Joel Berger and Mamie Kalbach.
There are eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12th at 10:30 am in St. Thomas Church, 536 N. Main St., Bernville with Reverend Joshua Knappenberger officiating.
A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville and Monday morning from 9:30 am until time of service in St. Thomas Church.
Interment will be in Haags Cemetery in Bernville.
