Pauline E. (Polly) Fisher, 97, of Muhlenberg Park, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015, in Phoebe Berks, Wernersville, PA.
Born at home in Fleetwood, Pa. on November 25, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Ida Mae (Clemmer) and William R. Weidenhammer, Sr. She was the widow of Harry S. (Boaty) Fisher who passed away on April 22, 1990. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 21, 1990.
Polly was a 1935 graduate of Fleetwood High School and is one of 3 remaining survivors from that class. She was instrumental in planning their class reunions, having their last one 5 years ago. She was previously employed by the former Maidencreek Hosiery Mill, Temple, Pa. and was a member of Christ Church UCC in Temple.
Affectionately known as "GG" to her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She was known for her baking, especially for her cookies, and for her memorable meals. She was an avid seamstress and knitter, making prayer shawls and baby hats for her church. GG will always be remembered for her smile and her generosity.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna L., wife of Natale DeLuca, Muhlenberg; granddaughter Janelle L., wife of Andrew Leib, Muhlenberg Park, grandson H. Jeffrey Herb, husband of Laurie, Wyomissing; great grandsons Andrew Leib IV, Clayton Leib and Griffin Leib; great granddaughters Julia Herb and Brooke Herb; her sisters, Miriam Kuntz, widow of Lawrence, Cincinnati, Ohio, Margaret Burns, wife of Charles, Douglassville, and Kathryn Gehris, Reading. She was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Miller, brothers Newman Weidenhammer, Ernest Weidenhammer, and William Weidenhammer, Jr.
The family would like to thank Phoebe Berks for all their warmth and kindness; as well as their excellent care.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24th at 10:30 am in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple with Rev. Dr. Harry Serio officiating. Interment will follow in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
A viewing will take place Thursday morning from 9 am until time of service in the funeral home.
