MYRTELINA COLON, 77, of Laureldale, died Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
Married for over 50-years, she was the loving wife of Francisco Colon.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Felipe Vazquez and Rosa (Velazquez) Padilla.
Myrtelina moved to Fleetwood, PA when she was 17-years old and she worked for the Fleetwood Shirt Factory for over 40-years. She and her husband raised their daughter in the area and later adopted a second daughter. Myrtelina enjoyed the outdoors including many summer trips with her grandchildren. The bond she created with her grandchildren was precious. Myrtelina was happiest when she was surrounded by and caring for her family.
In addition to her husband, Myrtelina is survived by two daughters, Aida Y. Miller and her husband Randall S. Miller of Laureldale and Brittany Rose Colon also of Laureldale, and two loving grandchildren, Jacob William Miller and Katarina Isabella Miller. She is also survived by 10 siblings.
Myrtelina is predeceased by a sister and her mother's husband, Arquelio Padilla, whom she loved as her own father.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA, officiated by The Reverend Allen J. Hoffa of Holy Guardian Angels Parish and special speaker, Pastor Glenn Davis of Spring Valley Church of God. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, PA.
