Marilyn M. (Snyder) Kissling, 93, of Penn Twp., passed away Thursday April 14th in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was married to the late Ralph A. Kissling who passed away July 21, 2005.
Born in State Hill, she was the daughter of the late Leroy H. Snyder and Stella (Troutman) Snyder.
Marilyn was a school bus driver for Kissling’s School Bus Service for over fifty years. She had fond memories of Kissling’s feed mill, which the family owned and operated for several generations. She was also a census taker for Tulpehocken School District for many years. One of her joys was running the concession stand at the softball field the family owned.
She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville where she sang in the choir and played the piano at Sunday School along with many other activities. She sang in the Bernville Ladies Quartet, placing in a Grange National competition.
Marilyn loved bird watching, gardening, playing cards, and was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She was very pleasant and fun loving and enjoyed laughing with people, especially her grandchildren.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. The family wishes to thank her caregivers for the special love and attention they gave her this last year.
Surviving are her children, Arthur Sr., husband of Karen (Hiester) Kissling, Diana, wife of Richard Kehler, Janet, wife of Ted Bown, Carol, wife of Kevin Zellers, Candace, wife of Rodney Keeney, Amy, wife of William Vuxta, and John Kissling, partner of Beth Shalters.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
There is a sister, G. Joan Mengel.
Marilyn is predeceased by her siblings, Clark L. “Skip” Snyder, Elaine E. Bender, and Carroll “Bud” Snyder.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20th at 11 am in St. Thomas Church, 536 N. Main St., Bernville with burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until 11:00 am in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Church at the above address.
The Kirkhoff Funeral Home in Bernville is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
