Margaret Ellen Steely

July 1, 1915 — March 28, 2017

Margaret Ellen (Boyer) Steely, 101, was formerly of Reading, Berks County, and Stevens, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She passed away of natural causes March 28, 2017 in the Northgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Irving, Texas. She had resided there since August, 2012.

Margaret was the wife of the late Warren Francis Steely who died in Irving, Texas, May 20, 2009. She was also predeceased by a son, Carroll N. Steely in 1994.

Mrs. Steely was born in Wernersville, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1915, a daughter of the late Milton and Clara (Long) Boyer. She had two brothers who predeceased her, Raymond and Warren Boyer.

Margaret spent most of her time as a homemaker but did work for the American Casualty Company in Reading for three years from 1956 to 1959.

After becoming a born-again Christian in 1967, she loved to write Spiritual messages about her Lord. Her favorite verse was Ephesians 2:8,9 and her favorite hymn was Rock of Ages.

She worked tirelessly as the treasurer for Maranatha Baptist Church from 1978 to 1989 and was also a faithful member of Akron Bible Baptist Church before she and Warren moved to Irving, Texas in 2008.

Mrs. Steely is survived by a daughter, Loretta N., wife of Lloyd Kruppenbach, Stevens, PA., and a son Lee W. Steely of Belt, MT.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren: Margaret Cunningham of Irving, TX; Bernadette Jones of Houston, TX; Mark Steely of Irving, TX; Donna Whyde of Brazoria, TX; Cheri Borelli of Reading, PA; Brenda High of Laureldale, PA; David Steely of Kalispell, MT; and Russell Steely of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Steely will be interred in the Haines UCC Church Cemetery in Wernersville, PA. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
