Mae Marie( Wehr) Potteiger 94 formerly of Shartlesville and Sinking Spring died Saturday morning in the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, Delaware while visiting her daughter Carol Jane wife of Eric Anderson of Laurel, Delaware. She was the widow of Earl R. Potteiger who died February 2001.
Prior to the visit in Laurel, Delaware Mrs. Potteiger had resided with her son, Reverend Bruce W. husband of Anna Potteiger of Fleetwood.
Known as Mrs. "P" to many in Wilson Middle School where she received the nickname was born in Pottsville, PA on February 25, 1921.
She was the daughter of the late Leroy M. and Minerva C. (Rentschler) Wehr.
Mrs. "P" was committed to being a loving mother to all children of the community. She was a faithful Christian living life according to her beliefs. Her Bible study classes reinforced her commitment to her faith.
Mrs. Potteiger enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and growing flowers. She particularly like the Trailing Arbutus.
Mae was a homemaker during her lifetime. She graduated from Hamburg High School.
She was a very active member of Salem Belleman's Church.
Additional family members are two sons; Marc W. husband of Stacey Potteiger of Fayetteville, GA and Retired Col. Thomas W. husband of Cynthia Potteiger of White, GA.
Additional daughters are; Roberta Marie widow of Harry Adam of Hamburg and Linda J. Peterman, wife of George, who died in 2001. A sister, Pearl Lengel of Hamburg.
Mrs. "P" was blessed to have had twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren to love.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Belleman's Church, 3540 Belleman's Church Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541 with her son the Reverend Bruce W. Potteiger officiating. Interment is in Strausstown Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Friday at 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
Memorial offerings may be given in Mrs. Potteiger's memory to the endowment fund of the church at the above address.
