Loretta M. (Hinkle) Ernst

Loretta M. Ernst, 78, of Hamburg and Temple, passed away Saturday, December 19th in the home of her daughter, Susan, in Schuylkill Haven, with her loving family by her side.

Loretta was married to the late Ronald E. Ernst who passed away October 24, 2020.

Born in Blandon, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Moyer) Hinkle.

She was employed as a LPN at Berks Heim for many years.

Loretta and her late husband Ronald were caregivers their entire life assisting adults with disabilities.

They opened their home providing respite care, they were a life sharing provider, and also had a summer camp program at home all through Supportive Concepts for Families.

In her earlier years, she was employed as a waitress while she obtained her LPN.

She also owned a sandwich shop in Reading.

Loretta was very involved volunteering with the Shoemakersville Fire Co. truck crew and managing the banquet hall.

Loretta and her husband Ronald arranged for bingo, banquets, wedding receptions and any other event that was scheduled for the fire company banquet hall.

Surviving are seven children, Ronald Snyder, Jr., and wife Nancy, Rick Snyder and wife Lori, Randy Snyder and wife Terri, Michael Snyder, Susan Dietrich and husband Michael, Christopher Hill and wife Jennifer, and Scott Hill and wife Jenni.

There are twenty grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.

Also, she is survived by a sister, Kathleen Seidel and predeceased by brothers, Donald and Elwood Hinkle.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 29th from 6 until 8 pm in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
