Kenneth A. Bixler Sr

Kenneth A. Bixler, Sr., 78, of Shillington, passed away Wednesday, July 24th in Reading Hospital of natural causes.

He was married to Marian E. (Hoch) Bixler. Kenneth and Marian would have been married fifty eight years on July 30th.

Born in Fritztown, he was the son of the late Paul E. Bixler and Helen (Labe) Bixler.

For over forty years he was employed in construction, last working for Burkey Construction retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Blue Lodge Chandler, West Reading No. 227.
He enjoyed John Deere tractors, all types of gardening, and puzzles.
He was very handy and was a jack of all trades.
Also, he was an avid NASCAR, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He enjoyed playing all types of games, including cards and dominos, with his family and friends.

Additional survivors include his children, Connie L. Bixler, Charlene T., wife of William Gottschall, and Cathleen S., wife of Les Lorah all of Shillington, Cynthia L., wife of John Yeager of Mohrsville, Kenda L., wife of Gene Spotts of Shartlesville, Kenneth A. Bixler, Jr., husband of Lesley of Mohnton, and Paul K. Bixler, husband of Heather also of Shillington.
There are twenty two grandchildren and one due in August and eleven great grandchildren and one on the way.
He also is survived by his sisters, Shirley, widow of Russell Dietrich of Kutztown, Joan Kiebach of Muhlenberg Twp., and Marjorie Wenrich of Bernville.
He is also survived by his German Shepherd, Guinness.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 30th at 11 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Pastor Rob McSurdy officiating. Family and friends may attend a visitation with the family from 10 am until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
