Joan (Schell) Boyd
October 5, 1934 — May 10, 2015
Joan Boyd, 80, formerly of Bernville, passed away Sunday, May 10th at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in Frailey Township, PA she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Susan (Bohr) Schell.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse, spending many years working at Berks Heim Nursing Home, Leesport.
Joan was a faithful member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she helped with many of its activities and events. She dearly loved her family, and enjoyed going on family vacations and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Joan also enjoyed her trips to Hollywood Casino in Grantville, PA.
Mrs. Boyd was a graduate of Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, PA, where she received her degree in Nursing.
Surviving is her husband of almost 60 years, William C. Boyd; sons, William L. and James Boyd; daughter, Penny Sokolovich and husband Leonard; grandchildren, Bethany Clark, Andrew and Nicholas Sokolovich, and William, Alyssa, and Morgan Boyd; great-grandchildren, Killian Clark and William J. Boyd, II.
She is preceded in death by a step-father, Herman Morgan.
A memorial service will be held at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville on Thursday, May 14th at 11am with the Rev. Robert Argot officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10am until time of service. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
