In the loving memory of Jeannette A Drey, a cherished member of the community, who passed away on April 17, 2024, at Reading Hospital. Jeannette was born on July 22, 1931, in Reading PA, to her beloved parents Leonard Lapi and Josephine (Rocella) Lapi. She peacefully passed away at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by all who knew her. Jeannette was the wife of the late Richard E. Drey who passed away in 1981.
Jeannette flourished in her endeavors, demonstrating unwavering dedication and passion throughout her life. Graduating from Central Catholic in 1949 marked just the beginning of her remarkable journey. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own Leonard's Luncheonette at Fairgrounds Square Mall for 16 years, where she brought joy to countless individuals. After this venture, she spent a decade working at Dog House and co-owned Chucker Chubbs in Muhlenburg - establishments that reflected her commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
She is survived by her loving children Alyce Pergine and James McBride III, along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who carry forth her spirit with grace. Carmella Dornes also continues to cherish Jeannette's memory as a dear sister.
In addition to her parents, Jeannette was predeceased by her children, Crystal Shuman and David Drey, and siblings Leonard Lapi, Morris Lapi, Richard Lapi, and Lillie Lapi.
A viewing and prayer service in honor of Jeannette will take place on April 22, 2024, at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple. The viewing will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by the prayer service from 7:00 PM.
