Jay R. Gromis, 84, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Friday, May 27th in the Reading Hospital.
Jay was married to Minnie M. (Wengert) Gromis. Jay and Minnie were married December 1, 1956 and celebrated fifty nine years of marriage.
Born in Temple, he was the son of the late Raymond Gromis and Bertha (Keller) Gromis.
Jay graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1950 and then served his country in the U. S. Marines.
Jay was a member of Friedens Church in Shartlesville where he formerly served on consistory.
Jay was a Lab Technician for the former NGK Metals in Temple for forty years. He then worked part time for Sam's Club in Temple from 1994 until 2005.
Jay was a member of the Shartlesville Lions Club where he served as a former president, a member of the Upper Bern Vets., and a member of the Shartlesville Fire Co.
Additional survivors include two children, Jeffrey J. Gromis and wife Sharon of Landisville, PA and Duane R. Gromis and wife Karen of Lenhartsville.
There are three grandchildren, Brandon, Caroline, and Keith Gromis.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
