Ilene J Batz

Ilene J. (Kauffman) Batz, 70, of Jefferson Township, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on July 16, 1954, in West Reading, PA, to the late Earl and Irene (Noecker) Kauffman.

A 1972 graduate of Tulpehocken High School, Ilene later completed an associate’s degree from Lehigh Valley College. She worked for 40 years as an administrative assistant at Tulpehocken High School, retiring in 2015. After retirement, she dedicated her time to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, a cause she held dear.

Ilene was married to Jay A. Batz for 42 years until his passing on January 31, 2017. Together, they raised two sons: Ryan J. Batz, husband of Robyn(Postal), New Fairfield, CT, and Jeremy A. Batz, husband of Morgan(Wright), Canandaigua, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexa and Barrett, and her siblings: Earlene Hecker, wife of Edward, St. Lawrence, PA; Dennis Kauffman, Bernville, PA; Ronald Kauffman, husband of Barbara(Fisher), Bernville, PA; and Lorene Triviets, wife of Gary, Bernville, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ilene enjoyed spending time at the family cabin upstate, riding four-wheelers, watching NASCAR races, playing games with friends, and observing hummingbirds. She was especially fond of her late yellow lab, Tara, who brought her joy and companionship, as well as her grand pups, Mohawk and Luna. Ilene’s love for her family and friends was evident in all she did, and her warm, giving nature will be deeply missed.

A visitation with family and friends will be held at Bern Reformed UCC on February 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM at 3196 Bernville Rd, Leesport, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Brookline Lab Rescue, Meals on Wheels, or a charity of your choice.

Ilene’s memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
