Horace F. "Bud" Smith. 95, of Temple, passed away peacefully in his residence on Friday evening in the company of his loving family.
He was the widower of Margaret M. (Seltzer) Smith. Bud and Margaret were married August 10, 1941 in BelAir Maryland and celebrated sixty three years of marriage.
Born in Leesport on November 27, 1922, he was the son of the late Horace B. Smith and Clara I. (Delcamp) Smith.
He was employed by N.G.K. Metals, formerly Cabot Corp. He retired in 1982 following thirty nine years of service.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II serving in the Pacific Theatre including Japan.
During his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing. He was an avid Phillies and Steelers fan.
Bud loved spending time with his family.
Bud is survived by his children, Barbara, Phillips, widow of Ronald Phillips of Reading, Darlene Weidner, wife of Dale Weidner of Catawissa, Kathleen Sterling, wife of Leonard Sterling of Kenhorst, David "Chip" Smith, husband of Rachelle Smith of West Wyomissing, and Theresa Smith of Reading.
There are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by four sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21st at 11 am in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple with James D. Yoder, Jr., Spiritual Care Coordinator for Heartland Hospice officiating.
A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10 am until the time of the service in the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service in St. John's Gernants Church Cemetery.
