Herbert A. Dorney, 89, died Friday, December 28, in his Muhlenberg Twp. residence. He shared a loving marriage of 68 years with his widow, Dolores L. (Sassaman). Born in Dorneyville, Lehigh County, he was the son of the late George and Perma (Grammas) Dorney.
Herbert served his county in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Yeager Supply Company of Reading for over 25 years, last working as a salesman. He was a member of Maidencreek Church where he served on the consistory. He also served on consistory of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Muhlenberg Twp.
He was a member of Chandler Lodge #227 F. and A. M. Masonic Lodge. In addition, he was a past president of the Blandon Lion’s Club.
In addition to his wife, he survived by his daughter Kimberly A. Dorney, wife of Jerry L. Weidner, of Muhlenberg Twp., and his son, Retired Army Lt. Col. Olen Dorney, husband of Deborah Dorney, of Montclaire, Virginia. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and his two sisters, Susan McBride and Joyce Stinner, both of Lehigh County.
He is predeceased by three siblings.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 3 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sara Hertzog at the Maidencreek Church Cemetery, Blandon.
