Glenn R. Bortz, 86, formerly of Temple died September 6, 2013 in Berks Heim, Bern Township. He was the husband of Annabelle Rebecca (Reber) Bortz, also a guest at Berks Heim. Glenn and Annabelle celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on August 23, 2013.

Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Robert V. and Bessie R. (Strock) Bortz.

A 1945 graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School, he was employed by Berkshire Knitting Mill for 2 years and then as a machine assembler for Birdsboro Corporation for 35 years. He was later employed part time for Hoffman Lumber and Reading Mack Truck, retiring in 2003. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, Chandler Lodge #227 F&AM, West Reading and the Temple Fire Company and Goodwill Beneficial Association. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, Princeton football, mall walking, the Valley Forge Music Fair and relaxing with neighbors on the back porch.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Darryl K. husband of Deborah (Hartline) Bortz and Keary G. Bortz, fiancé of Sheila A. Linderman, both of Muhlenberg Township and 1 brother, Irvin H. Bortz of Sinking Spring and 1 sister, Shirley E. Yoder of York. He was predeceased by 1 daughter, Stephanie Bortz and 1 sister Ida Lesher.

Funeral service are from the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. 4914 Kutztown Road Temple on Tuesday at 2:00 PM beginning with a masonic service by Chandler Lodge #227 and followed by a religious service with Rev. Thomas Irwin officiating. Entombment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery Hillside Mausoleum. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time in the funeral home.
