Gladys M Neppes

Gladys M. (Lear) Neppes, 91, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, in Laurel Center. 

Born on May 27, 1932, in Gardenville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence S. and Hettie (Leatherman) Lear. Gladys was the wife of the late Albert Neppes with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

In her younger years, Gladys and her husband, Al, enjoyed roller skating and bowling with friends. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and tending to her vegetable garden. Gladys loved to cook for her extended family especially on holidays.  She was a very talented seamstress, making many beautiful wedding dresses for family and friends.  

Gladys is survived by her children, Chester D. Neppes, husband of Colleen, of Hamburg, Michael W. Neppes, husband of Lisa, of Hamburg, Cindy L. Neppes, companion of Jeff Musser, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Audrey L. Brownmiller, wife of Michael, of Cody, WY. Also surviving are grandchildren, Shannon, Stacey, Ashley, Kelsey, Kylie, Cole, Megan, Ryan, Kevin, and Brian, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Clarence Lear and Walter Lear. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was predeceased by her siblings, Olive M. Davis, Emma K. Diehl, Doris A. Long, John Lear, Garwood Lear, George Lear and Herb Lear.

A viewing will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville, PA.

A burial will take place in Strausstown Union Cemetery, Old Route 22, Strausstown, PA.
