George L. Sandridge

June 28, 1927 — April 30, 2015

George L "Sock". Sandridge 87 of Maidencreek Township died Thursday morning in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Lillian M. (Reber) Sandridge. They had been married sixty-five years.

He was born in Blandon, PA on June 28, 1927. He was the son of the late Katie E. (Carl) Roberts.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Donna F. wife of Leon H. Rhoads of Oley and a son, Larry D. husband of Korie L. Sandridge of Spring Township.

There are four living grandchildren; Craig L. and Timothy R. Rhoads. Brian C. and Andrew C. Sandridge. A grandson, Michael Rhoads, died in 1999.

Three great grandchildren: Emily, Avery, and Kadyn Rhoads.

He is survived by a step-sister, Kathryn widow of Robert Delp of Temple. A step-brother, Harold Roberts, predeceased him in death.

Mr. Sandridge was a member of Maidencreek Church and had served on church council.

Sock was a member and past president of the Blandon Senior Citizens, Past president of the Blandon Lions Club, Melvin Jones recipient, former Blandon Boy Scout leader, and player/manager for the Blandon softball team.

Mr. Sandridge was employed by the former Maier's Bakery for thirty-two years as a driver salesman retiring in 1990.

George greatly enjoyed fishing in the "Tully", small game hunting, and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

Mr. Sandridge served his county in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a graduate in 1945 of the former Ontelaunee High School where he played baseball.

Funeral services provided by the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. Temple on Monday at 2:30 P.M. with his pastor, the Reverend Sara Hertzog officiating. Interment will follow in Maidencreek Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1:30 P.M. until time of funeral services. Contributions may be given to the Maidencreek Church Trust Fund, 261 Main Street, Blandon, PA 19510.
