George E. Fessler Jr

January 23, 1933 — October 11, 2014

George E. Fessler Jr., 81, who resided at the Brethren Village in Lancaster and was formerly of Riverview Park, passed away Saturday, October 11th at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was married to Rosemary D. (Schuler) Fessler on June 8th, 1957. George and Rosemary shared 57 years of marriage together.

Born in Robesonia, he was the son of the late George E. Fessler Sr. and Viola (Keppley) Fessler.

He graduated from Shillington High School in 1950.

George served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honored with the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal.

He had been employed by Ludens as a Traffic Manager and was subsequently self-employed in Logistics Transportation Sales.

He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

George was also a member of VFW, the American Legion, and Trout Unlimited.

He was chairman of the National Confectioners Traffic Conference and received the Reading Traffic Club Lifetime Achievement Award.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Michael G. Fessler, husband of Denise, of Lancaster; and Cynthia M. (Fessler) Clapperton of Wyomissing.

He was predeceased by daughter, Maria (Fessler) Frick and infant daughter, Ellen Fessler.

Also surviving are grandchildren: Matthew and Megan Fessler; Andrea and Alexa Clapperton; and Allison Frick; and great-grandchild, Dylan Fessler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 15th at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA with interment following in Gethsemane Cemetery.
There will be a viewing Wednesday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA, preceding a procession to the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Brethren Village, Good Samaritan Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606.
