Erma M. Speicher, 95, of Jefferson Twp., passed away Thursday May 1st in Reading Hospital.

She was the widow of the late Cyrus W. Speicher who passed away February 18, 2008. Erma and Cyrus celebrated sixty nine years of marriage.

Born in Oley Twp., she was the daughter of the late Adlai S. Welder and Mary E. (Reinert) Welder.

She was a member of Christ Little Tulpehocken Church where she was a former recording secretary and assisted with other church duties which included preparing the bulletins for weekly church services.

She was a graduate of Robesonia High School. In earlier years she was employed by Berkshire Knitting Mill in Wyomissing and Caron Knitting Mill in Robesonia.

She was a homemaker, assisting her late husband Cyrus in operating the family farm and the raising of many chickens.

She was a former Jefferson Twp., auditor and a member of the Bernville Young at Hearts.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, canning, solving puzzles, reading books, and playing the piano.

Erma loved her family and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Richard C. Speicher, husband of Mary Jo Speicher of Hamilton, Ohio, David W. Speicher, husband of Kaye Speicher of Berwyn, PA, June E., widow of Arlan Kramer of Shartlesville, and Mary L., wife of Gary Bashore of Jefferson Twp. She was predeceased by two daughters, Margaret L. Speicher and Shirley A. Hoyer, wife of Bruce Hoyer of Jefferson Twp.

There are twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and eight step great great grandchildren.

There is a sister, Grace, widow of Daniel Bitting of Womelsdorf. She was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Moyer and a brother, Earl Welder.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 8th at 2 pm in Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, 40 Church Rd., Bernville, PA 19506 with Rev. Roderick Sutliff officiating, Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 1 pm until time of service in the church.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made to Christ Little Tulpehocken Church at the above address.

The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
