Emidio J. Camilli, also known as Mimi or Mim, 83 of Muhlenberg Township died July 8, 2015 in Reading Hospital where he had been a patient since June 29th.
He was the husband of Rosalie (Barbitta) Camilli.
Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Ettore and Livia (Fiorvanti) Camilli.
He was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended Villanova University. He was president of Ettore Camilli Mushroom Company, Temple from 1958 until 1968 and was owner and operator, with his 2 sons Robert and Jeffrey, of Camilli Brothers Automotive Service, Inc. Muhlenberg Township until his retirement in 2000.
He was an active and faithful member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church where he was caretaker of the flower garden. He sang on the church choir for 30 years under the direction of George Reading and also sang with the Muhlenberg Choral Society.
He was former president of the Automotive Service Council of Reading for 2 terms, he served on the advisory board of the Reading-Muhlenberg Vo-Tech School and was a founding member of the Reading Stock Car Association along with Lindy Vicari and Albert Gaspari where he raced his car the Cambro Special #43.
Other survivors include 2 daughters, Bonnie Hartman, Esq. wife of Ken Hartman of Schaefferstown and Beverly wife of Mark Soltysik of Leesport.
There are 3 sons, Robert Camilli husband of Shirl of Leesport, William Camilli husband of Lottie of Hyde Park and Jeffrey Barbitta husband of Justine of Muhlenberg Township and 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Vincent Camilli of Live Oaks, FL and the Rev. E. Michael Camilli MSC of Temple. He was predeceased by a brother Lawrence Camilli and a sister Christina Leininger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Tuesday, July 14th at 11:00 AM in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd. Reading, PA 19605. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Flower Fund at the above address.
