Eleanor May Hoagland, 81, of Maidencreek Twp., passed away Tuesday, March 15th in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was married for sixty-one loving years to David W. Hoagland, Sr.
Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late Mark George and Natha (Lee) George.
She attended Faith Evangelical Congregational Church in Temple.
She graduated from Reading High School in 1959, then she was employed for thirty- one years for Lucent Technologies.
Eleanor enjoyed gardening, feeding birds around her house, boating with Dave at Lake Wallenpaupack, and also attending horse shows with Dave.
Together they enjoyed attending the Hoagland Family Reunion in Bedford and remote-control airplane shows in Kutztown.
Watching the Hallmark channel and enjoying a steak sandwich at Linda’s Steak Stand at the Leesport Farmers Market were also a few of Eleanor’s favorite pastimes.
Eleanor was very active at the Muhlenberg Twp. Food Pantry where she would organize fund raising events at the former Hoss’s Steak House in Leesport, then later at the Leesport Diner.
Eleanor loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a son, David W. Hoagland, Jr. and wife Karen Hoagland of Shoemakersville. She is predeceased by a daughter, Lyndell Irene Bauman.
There are four grandchildren, Chad, Kristi, Dakota, and Dalton Hoagland, three great grandchildren, Kaeden, Marley, and Melania, and several great great grandchildren.
She is survived by her siblings, Paul and Kenneth George and Doris Radcliff.
She is predeceased by her siblings, David Carl George, Donald George, and Marilyn Collins.
Eleanor’s family would like to give a special thank you to; Spirit Trust Lutheran Home Care & Hospice and Penn State St. Joseph Hospital Hershey Cancer Department for the amazing care they gave to Eleanor and her family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 11 am in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.
A viewing will take place on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm and Wednesday from 10 until 11 am in the funeral home.
Interment will follow the funeral service in St. John’s Gernant’s Church Cemetery in Leesport.
