Elaine Ruth Gassert, 95, of Temple, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 10, at Berks Heim Nursing & Rehabilitation in Leesport, PA. Born on November 14, 1929, in Stoney Creek, PA, Elaine lived a life filled with dedication to her family.
Elaine's career spanned three decades at Temple Apparel, where she was known for her hard work and commitment. She was a graduate of Antietam High School.
Elaine was a loving and nurturing presence in the lives of her family. She particularly cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, embracing every moment as a joyful caregiver. Her passion for cooking and baking was evident to all who visited; she would always greet guests with a comforting meal or snack, embodying the spirit of warmth and hospitality that was central to her family life.
Elaine is survived by her two sons, Kerry M. husband of Kathleen M. Gassert of Sinking Spring and Ron L. Gassert of Fleetwood. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Chad Gassert, husband of Alison; Taryn Gassert, wife of Josh Robitzer; Chris Gassert, husband of Gretchyn; and Tyler Gassert. Additionally, Elaine cherished her role as a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren: Coldin, Chase, Christian, Cade, Miles, Julien, Madisyn, Austin, and Kelsi.
She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Anna (Schmek) Himmelberger, as well as her siblings: Donald Himmelberger, Gloria Matthews, and Kenneth Himmelberger. Their memories will forever remain a part of her legacy.
A viewing will take place on December 18, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 AM, in the Zions Spies Church, 310 Spies Church Road, Reading.
Burial will take place in Spies Zion Cemetery.
Elaine Ruth Gassert's life was a testament to love, family, and community. Her contributions and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
