Donald F. Swavely, passed away on January 28, 2024, at Reading Hospital. Born on November 9, 1933, in Temple, PA, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Cora (Dunkelberger) Swavely.
Donald was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School and a 1954 graduate of Wyomissing Polytech. Shortly after, he joined Polymer Corp., where he worked as a product engineer for thirty-eight years until 1989. He continued to contribute his expertise to Arrow International until his retirement in 1996 as a manufacturing engineer. In addition to his successful career, Donald served his country with honor and pride in the United States Army.
Donald had a wide range of hobbies and interests that defined him as an individual. He was an avid fisherman and took immense pleasure in spending time on the water and casting his line. He enjoyed gardening, searching for arrowheads, and crabbing. Donald also had mastered the art of playing the organ.
He was married to the late Delores J. (Kline) Swavely for 56 joy-filled years.
Donald's legacy will be carried on by his sons, Gregory A. Swavely, husband of Jill, of Green Lane, and Bradley S. Swavely, husband of Karen, of Plowville. The joy of Donald's life came in the form of his grandchildren: Matthew Swavely, husband of Amanda; Alyssa Oxenreider, wife of Steven F.; and Michael Swavely, husband of Alyssa. Continuing the legacy further are Donald's seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Donald was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Clarence Swavely.
A viewing will take place at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home located at 4914 Kutztown Road in Temple on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM.
Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, Richmaiden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donald's name may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation online at wish.org.
