Donald E. Lynn

Donald E. Lynn, 82, of North Heidelberg Twp., passed away Sunday June 19, 2016 in the Reading Hospital .

He was married to Nancy J. (Feeg) Lynn. Donald and Nancy were married May 6, 1961 and celebrated fifty five years of marriage. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary by traveling throughout the West in the U.S. They also traveled extensively to destinations that included Alaska, Israel, Jordon, Bermuda, and the Mexican Islands.

Born in Lehigh County, he was the son of the late Frank Lynn and Kathryn (Hixson) Lynn.

He graduated from Penn Bernville High School in 1951. He then served his country in the Navy during peacetime on the Battleship Iowa as a Radar Technician Third Class.

Donald was in partnership with his father, Frank, operating F. E. Lynn & Son Poultry Farm in North Heidelberg Twp. for thirty Years.

Following the sale of the farm, he was employed by Reading Bone Fertilizer-Agway which became Growmark F.S., retiring in 2004.

He was a faithful member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville where he served many years on consistory, was a Deacon, a Elder, and Audio Operator. He was a former Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher.
He faithfully attended bible study and prayer meetings. He enjoyed painting, he stained the woodwork in the new St. Thomas Church Beatrice Hall.

In the late 1960's and early 1970's, Donald was a supervisor, treasurer, and secretary for North Heidelberg Twp. for twelve years.

He was a former member of Star Dusters Square Dance Club and played the trumpet for many years in a Drum and Bugle Corp.

Donald enjoyed horseback riding, was a avid reader, and played cards with friends every month. Also he enjoyed camping, hunting, and canoeing with his family and was always ready to tell a good joke.

Donald was a member of Bernville Young At Hearts.

Donald was a huge Yankees Baseball fan!

Donald loved spending time with his family and playing sports with his children and great grandchildren.

Additional survivors include two sons, Todd E. Lynn and wife Vickie of N. Heidelberg Twp. and Eric A. Lynn and wife Melanie of N. Whitehall Twp.

There are seven grandchildren, Christopher A. Lynn, Jason Wahl and wife Danielle, Joseph Frasnelli and wife Ashley, John Baer and fiancé Alysha, Vaneesa Cook and husband Daniel, Erin Williams and husband Brent, and Megan Hess.

There are six great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Donald is predeceased by a sister Janet Bond and survived by Janet's husband Rev. Arlan Bond and wife Mary.

There are two nephews, Rev. Randy Bond and wife Deanna and Steven Bond and wife Sharon along with a extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 26th at 2 pm in St. Thomas Church, 536 N. Main St., Bernville, PA 19506 with Rev. Arlan Bond officiating. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Bernville.

Family and friends may attend a visitation with the family in the church on Sunday from 1 until 2 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of St Thomas Church at the above address and the American Cancer Society, 498, Bellevue Ave., Laureldale, PA 19605.

The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
