Dolores D. (Parker) Muthard

Dolores (Lorrie) D. (Parker) Muthard, 90, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away Thursday in Penn State-St. Joseph Hospital.

She was married to the late Lawrence (Larry) E. Muthard who passed away April 20, 2011.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. Parker and Myrtle F. (Dietrich) Parker.

She was a member of Rosedale United Church of Christ in Laureldale. She was formerly an actively involved member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Temple where she sang in the choir and served on various committees over the years.  She also dedicated years of service driving seniors for the Muhlenberg Volunteer Home Care organization.

She was a 1948 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Lorrie and her late husband Larry founded L. E. Muthard Roofing in Temple in 1959 and owned and operated the business through 2005. The company is still in operation today as a third generation family owned business.

In earlier years she was employed by Bell Telephone in Reading.

Lorrie shared a love of fishing and boating with her husband Larry and spent many winters in the Florida Keys, while every summer was spent in Delaware enjoying either fishing in the Indian River Bay or sitting by the ocean in Bethany Beach.

When she wasn’t at the shore, she loved working in her vegetable garden or tending her flowers beds. In her later years, Lorrie enjoyed embroidering quilts or reading a wide variety of novels.

There was no greater joy in her life than her four daughters and their families. She dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being and her spirit and strong sense of faith will live on in each and everyone of them.

Surviving are her four loving children, Jamie L. (Muthard) Beil and husband Clark Beil of Fairfax, VA, Jodie D. (Muthard) Madueno and husband Pedro Madueno of Muhlenberg Twp., Julie A. (Muthard) Pietrowski and husband Thomas Pietrowski of Reading, and Laurie M. (Muthard) Peer and husband Alan Peer of Alsace Twp.

There are nine grandchildren, Chase Beil, husband of Sasha, Alexandria, Virginia; Katherine Beil, fiancée of Ian Kachemov, Alexandria, Virginia; Edward Madueno, Richmond, Virginia; Elena (Madueno) Black, wife of Matthew, Louisville, Kentucky; Peter Madueno, Denver, Colorado; Jennifer (Pietrowski) Kelly, wife of Shawn, Muhlenberg Park; Thomas Pietrowski, Muhlenberg Park; and Benjamin Peer, Thailand; and Adam Peer, Alsace Township.

There is one great grandson, Zayn Beil.

Also, she is survived by a sister, Joyce Kemp and a brother, Kenneth Parker.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family with burial in Laureldale Cemetery.
