Derek A. Witman

Derek A. Witman, 39, of Spring Twp., passed away Tuesday August 18th in the Reading Hospital from a heart condition caused from cancer treatment twenty years ago.

Born in Reading, he is the son of Dale and Debbie (Harter) Witman of Fleetwood.

Derek was a 1994 graduate of Oley Valley High School. He continued his education at Kutztown University receiving a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Derek installed and supported liquid and gas chromatography equipment for Dow Chemical, Rohm and Haas, and was most recently employed by Thermo Scientific Dionex.

Derek was a avid gamer, enjoyed camping, watching movies, collecting swords, and enjoyed playing the guitar.

Surviving with his parents is the love of his life, Angel Witman.

There are two sisters, Deanna Witman, wife of Brenton Hamilton of Rockland, Maine and Diane, wife of Dustin Zerr of Reading. There is a nephew Cody Zerr.

Derek is survived by his maternal grandmother, June Harter of Shillington.

Derek loved his two best fur friends, Cersei and Lillith.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Reading Hospital Regional Heart Center.

A public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 21st from 2 until 4 pm in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.

Interment will be private.
