Dennis J. Zerbe, 71, of Robesonia, passed away Sunday, May 28th in Penn State St. Joseph Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Alvin S. Zerbe and Betty V. (Sweigart) Zerbe.
Dennis graduated in 1963 from Penn Bernville High School.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Dennis was a tractor trailer driver, owning and operating his own truck for many years.
Dennis was known as "Dirt Track Denny" driving many years at the former Reading Fairgrounds, driving his car "Twin O'. He also was the winner of the Firecracker 40 at the Grandview Speedway. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
When he attended E. Stroudsburg University, he played on the Soccer Team, and assisted the team to the NCAA Final between E. Stroudsburg and Michigan State.
Surviving is one son, Zachary Zerbe of Robesonia. He is survived by his former wife, Bonita J. Zerbe also of Robesonia.
Also, his siblings, Jackie (Zerbe) Kirkhoff of Robesonia and Gregory Zerbe and wife Marcia of Leesport. His sister, Suzanne (Zerbe) Hiester, recently passed away.
There are surviving nieces and nephews including, Monica, Sonja, Jeremy, Brittany, Bobby, and Nicole.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Dennis and his late Sister, Suzanne on Saturday, June 10th at 11 AM in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Reverend Fred Allen officiating.
Family and friends may attend a visitation with the family for Dennis and Suzanne on Friday evening, June 9th from 7 until 9 PM and Saturday morning from 10 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
