Curtis W. Rhine, 85, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, of Blandon, passed away Saturday May 17th in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was married to the late Mary P. (Angstadt) Rhine who passed away January 21, 2010.
Born in Bernville, he was the son of the late Harry and Annie (Oxenreider) Rhine.
He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight for forty four years.
He attended Trinity Bible Fellowship Church in Blandon.
He served in the Army during WW II.
Curtis was co founder, along with Wilson Cramer and Raymond Shuman,
of the Blandon Community Ambulance. For fifty two years Curtis was a active member of the Blandon Community Ambulance, serving as President,
responding to calls, training fellow members, and performing any duties that were called upon him. In 1995 he was PA Volunteer of the Year by the EMS Council. He was a former member of the Fleetwood School Board, serving from 1970 until 1995. He was a member of the NRA and Huguenot Lodge No. 377, Free and Accepted Masons, in Kutztown.
He was a member of the Blandon Lions Club, serving as President in 1966, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, and the outstanding citizen of the year award in 1976.
Surviving are his two children, Curtis B. Rhine, husband of Judy of Blandon and Kimberly R., wife of Matthew Messinger of Millersburg, Dauphin Co.
There are eight grandchildren, Kristan Beloso, Belynda and Sandra Sharadin, Jenna Blankenbiller, Peter Sharadin, John Rhine, and Micah and Caleb Oyler.
Also, nine great grandchildren, Kennedy, Payton, Addison, and Mason Beloso, Jayden Sharadin, Quentin, Claire, and Katherine Rhine and Chandler Oyler.
There is one sister, Elsie Heydt of Shoemakersville. He is predeceased by thirteen siblings.
Funeral services will be Wednesday May 21st at 11:30 am in Trinity Bible Fellowship Church, 220 Main St., Blandon with a viewing to precede the funeral from 10 am until time of service in the church. Interment will follow in Maidencreek Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6pm until 8:30 pm in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.
