Clara L. (Rittle) Moyer, 80, of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., passed away suddenly following an accidental fall at home, on Saturday, October 3rd in Penn State-St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp.
Clara was married to Ray W. Moyer. Clara and Ray celebrated sixty three years of marriage on September 20th.
Born in Fredericksburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Rittle and Mamie (Krissinger) Minnich.
Clara was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Rehrersburg where she was treasurer, secretary, and sang in the choir.
Clara was employed for twenty six years at Publix Shirt Factory in Myerstown. During that period of time she was also co owner and partner of Moyer's Dairy Farm.
Clara then became owner and operator, with her husband Ray, of Moyer's Saw Mill in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., where she also was the bookkeeper. Clara's daughters took over the operation of the saw mill and Clara and Ray operated Moyer's Orchard.
Clara was a lifetime member of the Marion Grange and the Ladies Auxiliary in Strausstown. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading, and traveling with Ray.
Additional survivors include her children, Nancy L., wife of Ralph Kieffer of Tulpehocken Twp., and Mary J., wife of David Haag of Centre Twp. She was predeceased by a son, Gary Moyer.
There are nine grandchildren, David and Tim Moyer, Christine Evans, Brenda Peiffer, Brian Kieffer, Michael, Brittany, and Samantha Haag, and Jessica Siegfried.
Also, fourteen great grandchildren, Tylor Phillips, MacKenzie, Paige, Skylar, and Seth Peiffer, Haley and Taylor Evans, Jace and Jaden Brown, Ember, Colt, and Cole Moyer, and Sara and Cody Haag.
There are six siblings, Harvey Rittle, widower of Arlene of Lebanon, Betty Sudbury, wife of Allen of Annville, Verna Burke, widower of Joe of Lebanon, Mamie Haldeman, widow of Joe of Myerstown and Kenneth Rittle, husband of Linda of Georgia and Saye, wife of Gary Breidenstine of Grantville.
Clara is predeceased by siblings, Howard, Ralph, Robert, and David Rittle, Pauline Ginder, and Phoebe Murry.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 11 am in Trinity United Church of Christ, 27 Maria St., Rehrersburg PA with Pastor Louis Vetri officiating.
Family and friends may attend a viewing on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 pm in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville and on Thursday morning from 10 am until time of service in Trinity UCC in Rehrersburg.
Interment will follow in Strausstown Cemetery.
